As an SFK Nightrunner (Stormwolf Long-Range Reconnaissance Command, German: Sturmwolf Fernspähkommando) also known as ‘Nidhöggr’, you embody the core concept of TYR and its founding vision of a small mercenary unit specializing in Long-Range Reconnaissance and also SOF Special Reconnaissance. SFK Nightrunners operate in high-risk environments, such as those found in unclaimed systems like Pyro, and are deployed deep behind enemy lines to conduct autonomous missions without external support. Their primary objectives are the acquisition of critical intelligence and, when possible, the execution of sabotage operations.
Success relies on absolute trust in one’s comrades and the ability to function as a well-drilled team – conducting deep reconnaissance while remaining undetected. Deployment often begins with insertion by starship, but Nightrunners are typically dropped far from their target area, advancing on foot to reach the designated zone of operations.
The unit combines exploratory skills and outdoor proficiency to close with the enemy and establish covert Observation Points (OPs) from which to monitor hostile activity. In preparation for contingencies, SFK Nightrunners are also trained in combat under stress, mastering a wide spectrum of disciplines and operational challenges.
